Overview  - SIT40416  Certificate IV Hospitality 

We cover the core skills required to get work in hospitality, plus the skills and knowledge you need to be a shift manager or supervisor. The key topics we focus on are bar, cocktail making, speed pouring, beer pouring, coffee making, food and beverage service, beer spirits and wine knowledge, sales and presentation skills, how to open/close/manage a venue & coaching others.

The course is delivered one day per week for 4 hours, over 15-16 weeks. On finishing the face-to-face classes you will need to complete a log book of 36 shifts in a hospitality workplace. 

On completion of this qualification you can be awarded 5 certificates to add to your portfolio; RSA, RSF, Coffee, Cocktails and Certificate IV Hospitality. You can even complete first aid for no addittional cost.

If you need extra support we have 4 days scheduled for extra practical skills training. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. In addition you can book a one-on-one apointment anytime with a trainer. 

Duration & Delivery

This course is delivered over 15-16 face-to-face sessions dependent on the learners and employers choice of electives.  If students already hold their RSA or RSF they can substitute that unit for coffee making or use it as a credit transfer. Students are required to complete 36 practical service periods in variety of different service setting in order to complete this qualification. These will be documented in a logbook and signed off by your employer. Duration is generally 10-12 months.

Fees & Funding

Assessment

There will be a number of written theory assessments, projects, skills testing and observations that your assessor will use to determine your competency. Each week we will have a leader of the class and they will be assessed on their leadership and planning skills for that session.  You will need to complete a log bok of 36 service periods in a real workplace. 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You can ask for your relevant existing skills, qualifications and experience to be assessed and taken into account when your level of competency is being assessed. There will be a cost associated, refer to statement of fees and charges.

Credit Transfer (CT)

If you have previously completed a unit the same as what is in your new course we can give you credit and you will not have to do that unit again. No cost associated, but you do need to complete a credit transfer application.

Third parties may be used to refer students to this course. Registered third parties include: Hospitality Recruitment Group and Whitaker Management. Third parties cannot confirm enrolment or pre-training reviews or conduct any training assessment; this is completed by the RTO.
